ISOLPAK® ALU in Practice: Protection for Technical Pipe Insulation

By July 24, 2026CASE STUDY
Outdoor insulation systems require reliable protection against UV radiation, precipitation, temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress. ISOLPAK® ALU is TTM’s lightweight and durable cladding solution for insulated pipework and technical installations. The material consists of a pure aluminium core combined with a highly resistant UV-protective film. This multilayer construction provides a clean metallic finish while remaining lightweight and easy to process. ISOLPAK® ALU can be cut, formed and installed manually on site without specialised sheet-metal machinery. Its memory effect also helps minor dents and deformations return towards their original shape.
At the Kellerei St. Pauls winery in Appiano, South Tyrol, ISOLPAK® ALU protects insulated cooling and process pipes in the technical plant room. The cladding is regularly exposed to moisture and condensation while providing a clean and visually inspectable surface.
At Terme di Comano in Trentino, the material is installed on the pipework of a rooftop solar system. The pipes are fully exposed to direct sunlight, precipitation and seasonal temperature changes. The installation contractor confirms the material’s long-term performance:
“After two winters, the pipes still look as though they were just installed: no dents and no yellowing. ISOLPAK® ALU is currently the only outdoor cladding system I recommend.”

Technical Benefits

  • pure aluminium core
  • resistant UV-protective film
  • protection against weathering and corrosion
  • low material weight
  • manual installation without specialised machinery
  • memory effect after minor deformation
  • uniform metallic finish

The two projects demonstrate that ISOLPAK® ALU is suitable for both condensation-prone technical rooms and highly exposed outdoor installations.
